FAQ
What does a DWDM MUX do ?
A: DWDM MUX (Multiplexer) is a device used in Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) networks. Its main function is to combine multiple optical signals at different wavelengths into a single optical fiber for transmission over long distances. This enables the efficient utilization of the available fiber capacity.
What is DWDM port ?
A: Each DWDM MUX has multiple input ports and a single output port. The input ports receive individual optical signals, each operating at a specific wavelength.
How does a fiber MUX work?
A: The MUX combines these signals and multiplexes them onto a single fiber, where they are transmitted over long distances. At the receiving end, a DWDM DEMUX (Demultiplexer) separates the multiplexed signals back into their individual wavelengths, allowing them to be decoded and processed separately.
