Different working wavelength:
The smaller the single-mode fiber core, the narrower the laser wavelength, so the working wavelength of single-mode QSFP+ optical module is usually 1310nm; with the larger fiber diameter, dispersion and loss, it is suitable for optical fiber communication system with small capacity, so the working wavelength of multi-mode QSFP+ optical module is 850nm.
Different interface types:
Multi-mode QSFP+ optical module adopts MPO / MTP interface, and a few single-mode QSFP+ optical modules will also adopt MPO / MTP interface, but usually are LC interface.
Different transmission distances:
Single-mode QSFP+ optical module is suitable for longer transmission distances, usually can reach tens of kilometers or even hundreds of kilometers. This makes them very suitable for applications such as telecommunication and data center connectivity that need to span longer distances.
Multi-mode QSFP+ optical module is suitable for a short transmission distance, generally within the range of a few hundred meters. Multi-mode fibers are more common in short-range communication environments, such as device connectivity within data centers or LAN connections.
