1.25Gb/s Single-Mode SFP BIDI 20KM Transceiver Module

D-net SFP 1G BIDI 10km transceiver module is designed for bidirectional (BIDI) fiber optic communication. It operates at a data rate of 1Gbps and is capable of facilitating both transmission and reception of data over a single fiber span of up to 20 kilometers. This module employs Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) technology to achieve bidirectional transmission by assigning separate wavelengths for upstream and downstream data traffic. Typically, one module is configured to transmit at 1310nm and receive at 1490nm/1550nm, while the counterpart module is set to perform the reverse, ensuring efficient use of the single fiber for both directions of communication.

FAQ

Q: What is the difference between SFP and BIDI SFP?

A: The difference between SFP and BIDI SFP lies in their transmission method. SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) is a general-purpose optical module that supports either single-fiber single-direction or dual-fiber bidirectional transmission depending on the specific type. On the other hand, BIDI SFP (Bidirectional SFP) is specifically designed for single-fiber bidirectional transmission, utilizing wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) technology to transmit signals in both directions over a single fiber, thereby saving fiber resources.

Q: What is the range of 1G SFP?

A: The range of 1G SFP (1 Gigabit Small Form-factor Pluggable) can vary depending on the type of fiber and the specific SFP module used. Generally, for multimode fiber, 1G SFP modules can achieve a transmission distance of up to 2 kilometers. For single-mode fiber, the transmission distance can be significantly longer, typically ranging from 10 kilometers to as much as 160 kilometers, depending on the specific module and its capabilities.

Q: What is the maximum distance for SFP?

A: The maximum distance for SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) can vary depending on the specific type and standard, but it typically ranges up to around 100 meters (328 feet) for standard Ethernet applications over multimode fiber. For single-mode fiber and certain advanced SFP modules, distances can extend up to 40 or even 80 kilometers (around 25 to 50 miles).

Q: What is the range of BIDI SFP ?

A: The range of BIDI SFP (Bidirectional SFP) can vary depending on the specific module and the type of fiber used. Typically, BIDI SFP modules are designed for long-distance transmission over single-mode fiber, with distances ranging from 40 kilometers to potentially even longer, depending on the module's capabilities.
